Working Principle of Speed Reducer

In generally, it is the use of all levels of gear transmission to achieve the purpose of speed reduction, the reducer is composed of all levels of gear pairs. For example, using small gears to drive large gears can achieve a certain purpose of speed reduction, and then using multi-stage structure, it can greatly reduce the speed.            

Reducers are generally used in transmission equipment with low speed and high torque. The motor, internal combustion engine or other high-speed power is reduced by meshing large gears on the output shaft with fewer teeth on the input shaft of the reducer. The common reducer also has several pairs of gears with the same principle to achieve the desired deceleration effect. The ratio of the number of teeth of big and small gears is the transmission ratio.

The function of reducer           

 1. Reduce speed and increase output torque. The ratio of output torque is multiplied by the motor output, but attention should be paid not to exceed the rated torque of the reducer.           

 2. Deceleration reduces the inertia of the load at the same time, and the inertia decreases to the square of the deceleration ratio. You can see that general motors have an inertia value. The general types of reducers are helical gear reducers (including parallel helical gear reducers, worm gear reducers, bevel gear reducers, etc.), planetary gear reducers, cycloidal pinwheel reducers, worm gear reducers, planetary friction mechanical stepless speed reducers and so on.
